- Checkpoints. St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most popular holidays for DUI checkpoints. Police all over the state will conduct these checkpoints, in which drivers are stopped, interrogated, and perhaps asked to perform a field sobriety test. If you’ve had a few drinks and are stopped at a checkpoint, chances are, you’ll receive a DUI charge.
- Police are out in full force. The police will make their presence known on St. Patrick’s Day by sitting on the sides of roads and hiding out in parking lots watching for drunk drivers. If you are seen displaying any signs of intoxicated driving, such as swerving, running through red lights or stop signs, speeding, or driving extremely slow, you can expect to receive a visit from a police officer.
